Resetti, the ornamental rodent whose increasingly frequent complaints have accompanied millions of game resets without sparing Crossing of animals, lost his job. The main developer of Passage of animals: new horizons confirmed redundancy in a statement to Mashable yesterday.
This is because in New Horizons debuted on the Nintendo Switch in 2020 and benefits from the automatic backup feature of the console. "Unfortunately, since there is no need to reset the game or the reset button on the switch, Mr. Resetti had a hard time," Aya Kyogoku told Mashable. "He was fired from his post." Heck!
Kyogoku said the developers would find him somewhere else in the city.
The mandate of Sonny Resetti goes back to the very beginning Crossing of animals, launched to the west with the GameCube in 2002. He has appeared in all major Animal Crossing games ever since. Resetti's job, as he had one, was to reprimand the players who did a reset without registering, as this was a way to deceive the game conditions in real time.
Sometimes, however, the game was resetting itself for a legitimate reason – and it was Resetti's responsibility to eliminate this problem with reproaches for always backing up or making sure the batteries were charged. But if a player replied that he was simply resetting himself because he wanted to, Resetti would engage in more and more diatribes, especially if his aversion to his species was expressed.
Resetting voluntarily enough, and Resetti would even claim to delete a backup file or imply that his complicated relationship, Vinny, would hurt the player. The unpublished tirades of Resetti (in capital letters) could last forever forever.
Resetti's antisocial behavior was so extreme that he deserved a note from parents in the instruction manual Passage of animals: City Folk, advising them that young children can find their tone of voice disturbing.
In some games, the most recent of 2014 New Leaf Animal Crossinga surveillance center with a reset could be built, sending Resetti to The Roost for a cup of brown. This made his appearance somewhat optional (although building and visiting the monitoring center are a way to get pictures of him and his brother, Don Resetti, quieter).
Passage of animals: new horizons was announced on Tuesday in Nintendo's E3 Direct stream. The game will be launched on March 20, 2020 for Nintendo Switch.
