Famous accessories maker Anker today announced its latest dongle for Apple users. The company has released a new adapter to use Lightning earphones with USB-C devices, such as modern Macs or iPad Pro.

Anker claims that its adapter supports lossless audio quality and that it is MFi certified to ensure full functionality with your Apple devices. You also get all the features of your microphone and remote controls:

  • Apple MFi Certified: Works great for connecting a Lightning headset to a USB-C device.
  • Simplified listening: Use a Lightning headset for your iPhone, iPad Pro, Mac, or Windows 10 computer.
  • Lossless Audio: Fully digital transmission at 48 KHz / 24 bit.
  • Full functionality: retains microphone and remote control functions of the earpiece when connected to your USB-C devices.

Of course, Apple's Lightning EarPod headphones are not the only Lightning headphones on the market. Beats sells a Lightning version of its UrBeats and many inexpensive options have emerged since Apple abandoned the headphone jack several years ago.

These are the headsets and headphones that, according to Anker, should work perfectly with its new MFi-certified adapter (via The edge).

  • Apple EarPods with Lightning connector
  • Beats urBeats3 with Lightning connector
  • Apogee Sennheiser AMBEO Smart Headset, including binaural recording
  • Audeze iSINE LX, LCDi4, iSINE20, iSINE10, SINE and EL-8 Titanium
  • Pioneer Rayz, Rayz Plus, Rally
  • HP-NEL21, HP-NEL31, HC-M100L and HP-NHL21 Radius

Apple began including Lightning EarPods with the iPhone 7 and originally included a 3.5mm Lightning adapter. This meant, however, that users had no way to use their EarPod Lightning with MacBooks or other USB-C compatible USB-C devices.

The Anker USB-C to Lightning audio adapter is a clever solution if you need it, but at $ 30 on Amazon, it is quite expensive and can arrive with a few years of delay in general. Do you need this type of dongle? Let us know in the comments.
