After more than three years in the true wireless headphone business, Anker has established a tight grip in the low to mid market with dozens of products in the $ 20 to $ 100 range often exceeding their price tag. Now it’s ready to tackle a more premium segment with its first active noise-canceling buds, the Liberty Air 2 Pro.
The new heads are named after them and are the fruit of the union between Anker’s existing Soundcore Liberty Air 2 and 2 Pro, which I reviewed about a year ago and were very impressed with. The form factor is similar to that of the Air 2, although the case and design is more reminiscent of the 2 Pro. They also inherit the latter’s 11mm drivers, but with improved tuning to make the music as close to the original material as possible.
Anker really pushes the audio quality here, working with Grammy Award winners and music producers to make sure the setting is just right. If the new buds look like the 2 Pro’s, they should be impressive for the price, and if Anker has managed to outdo that, so much the better. I will be sure to share my thoughts with you once when I get my hands on them.
Like their predecessors, the Air 2 Pro have USB-C and Qi charging, Bluetooth 5.0, customizable controls, and several additional features provided by the Soundcore app (equalizer, sound customization after a hearing test, etc. ..). But where they go further is with active noise cancellation and transparency. For ANC, you can choose between transport modes (for planes, trains, buses), outdoor (wider bandwidth ANC to block out street noise) and indoor modes (for offices and cafes ). When it comes to transparency, you can choose to let all the noise in when you’re training outdoors and need to be aware of everything around you, or only prioritize nearby voices to hear PA announcements. .
