Fringe Anna Torv has joined the cast of HBO The last of us in a recurring role opposite Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. The series, based on the hugely popular 2014 PlayStation game of the same name, originated in that of Chernobyl Craig Mazin and The last of us creator Neil Druckmann.
Based on the award-winning video game by Naughty Dog, The last of us takes place 20 years after modern civilization was destroyed by a deadly virus. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to move 14-year-old Ellie (Ramsey) from an oppressive quarantine zone to the Fireflies, a cure-all organization. What starts out as a small job quickly turns into a brutal, heart-wrenching journey, as they both have to travel through the United States and depend on each other for survival.

Torv will recur as Tess, a smuggler and a hardened survivor in a post-pandemic world. In the original video game, Tess works with Joel to survive and bring guns in and out of Boston. She also accompanies Joel on the seemingly impossible mission to get Ellie to fireflies.

The cast also boasts TLOU voice actress Merle Dandrige, Nico Parker, Gabriel Luna, Jeffrey Pierce, Murray Bartlett and Con O’Neill.
Kantemir Balagov directs the pilot episode of The last of us, a co-production with Sony Pictures Television. PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint and Naughty Dog are producing the television series, based on the video game developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for the PlayStation platforms.
Druckmann and Mazin write and executive produce; Carolyn Strauss is also an executive producer with Naughty Dog President Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions as well as Rose Lam.
Torv recently appeared in The news reader, Spirit hunter and Secret city. Additional TV credits include Mistresses, the secret life of us and Young Lions. Girl, love is now and To travel light are among the actress’s movie credits.
She is represented by WME and United Management Australia.
