During Tuesday’s virtual appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” the 38-year-old Oscar winner advocated for people to use “Annie” instead of “Anne”.

“When I was 14, I did an ad, and I had to get my SAG card and they said, ‘Well what do you want your name to be?’” -she begins. “And I was like, ‘Well, that should be my name. My name is Anne Hathaway. ‘ It seemed like the right choice to me, but I never thought that for the rest of my life people would call me Anne. “

“The only person who’s ever called me Anne is my mom, and she only does that when she’s really mad at me,” she continued. “Like, really crazy.”
