The end of the Oscars elections, we are continuing our second annual series of interviews with academy voters from different branches to share their frank thoughts on what was chosen, overlooked and overvalued this year.

I take the Oscars seriously because they are an essential marketing and information tool for movies. The show must be re-examined and reinvented. Too many things to enter here. The proposed changes have never been well thought out. There should be a meeting of all members at least once a year for a day. It's a very creative subscription. The Academy is too bureaucratic and egocentric.

Rami Malek was totally convincing. He turned into Freddie Mercury, holding a mediocre film together. Without this performance, the film would never have been a success. No other actor had the responsibility to keep his film afloat – [others] had some better scripts, direction and co-stars. Not being a Queen fan, he has trained me in this world. The second choice was Viggo Mortensen who hopes to be an Oscar in the near future.

I am a traditionalist who wants to spread the Oscars. So much now depends on the strength of the campaign as well as the merit of the work that complicates more and more the chances of receiving an Oscar. Mahershala Ali is a recent recipient of "Moonlight". In addition, it is part of the wrong category. His role is a main role, no support. It is a shame that positioning the campaign in the main roles in the support category has become so commonplace. If the category had been named Best Actor instead of Best Supporting Actor, I would have voted for him.

How can we place the minimal role of Sam Rockwell in the role of "Vice" in the same league as Ali or the other actor lost in the support of Timothy Chalamet? The important and precise supporting role was that of Richard E. Grant and, with Withnail and me, a career highlight. He never wavers, no matter what movie he appears in, and here in the very badly titled "Can you always forgive me?" He is a comic and dramatic force.

My traditionalist inclinations are confused here for Glenn Close. With seven nominations and no winners, this could be his last chance to be recognized at the Oscars. Although the film is not perfect, it never fails to convey deep emotional conflict through its acting, often without words. She recently demonstrated this talent in her reactions to Stephen Colbert's acting game. Here, there is still a major candidate in the wrong category, Olivia Colman. The three women of "The Favorite" should all be in the support category. All sizes are about equal in size, said Mrs. Colman accepting her BAFTA … that the "first" should be crossed out and the three names should be included.

After six nominations, I'm waiting for Amy Adams to finally get an Oscar when she receives another nomination for Best Actress, following this year's Glenn Close model and Julianne Moore. In the meantime, and just in case it does not happen, I voted for her in the "Vice" category, because she is never less than exceptional, my favorites being "The Master" and "American Hustle" . The actress was remarkably neglected for a major nomination, for her main performance in "Arrival", a film with flaws that received eight nominations, in which she was flawless in a very difficult role, the glue that made the film work . Here, I eliminated Weisz and Stone because they have their Oscars. Regina King and Marina de Tavira shined.

"Roma" is my favorite film of many years and a film for ages. It's in a league on top of any other.
Cinematography has transported you to another place, almost another dimension. You were in Mexico in the 70s with these people. However, as I voted for Alfonso Cuarón and "Roma" in all other categories, apart from the role of actor, I chose Caleb Deschanel for his superb work in "Never Look Away" where he had to capture the flavor of several decades. Like Close and Adams,
he was multi-nominated and without Oscar – this is his sixth nomination. The fact that he was nominated for a film that is not in his native language, German, makes his exploit even more deserving.
