Another assistant from Alabama is expected to join Steve Sarkisian in Texas.

Sarkisian is expected to hire Jeff Banks, Crimson Tide’s tight ends coach and special teams coordinator, sources confirmed with AL.com.

The news was first reported by Inside Texas and The Athletic.

This is a notable loss for the Tide. In addition to his work as a field coach, Banks is ranked # 3 nationally in the 247Sports Scouting Rankings for this recruiting round and was the lead recruiter for three of Alabama’s signatories of the ‘State of Texas. This includes five-star running back Camar Wheaton and four-star quarterback Jalen Milroe.

Banks becomes Tide’s second on-field assistant to leave for Texas after offensive line coach Kyle Flood previously left to be the Longhorns offensive coordinator.

It will be a return to Texas for the banks. Prior to being hired in Alabama in 2018, Banks spent five seasons with Texas A&M.
