The body of a hiker gone to Hawaii was found just days after the rescue of another hiker lost in a Hawaiian forest.
A helicopter rescue team spotted Noah Kekai Mina's body Wednesday morning about 300 feet below the summit of Mauna Kahalawai volcano, also known as the West Maui Mountains. The same helicopter company that discovered Mina also participated in the search for Amanda Eller, who was found missing after 16 days.
But Mina's 35-year-old research has ended differently.
"We brought our son, our brother and our friend home today, but that was not what we would have wished and prayed," Mina's father, Vincent, wrote in an article on Facebook.
A man who disappeared on an isolated trail in Maui, Hawaii, more than a week ago, was found dead on Wednesday, said one family. The team that coordinated the research of Amanda Eller, found after 17 days, joined the effort to find Noah Mina https://t.co/S6rPqchjzp pic.twitter.com/BZx9BF8gX0

"We are so sorry that Kekai passed from one kingdom to another, he represented the world to us as a son, a brother and a friend," said his family in a statement published on a page devoted to the updates of the research. "We find comfort that he was found."
The search for Eller, a 35-year-old physical therapist and yoga instructor who had visited a Maui forest earlier this month, ended Friday. What had to be a short hike took more than two weeks in the Makawao Forest Reserve. She was found after eating plants and found refuge one night in a wild boar den.
At a press conference on Tuesday, she said she hoped for a safe rescue from Mina.
Mina's family called "all those who have extended their hearts and love to Kekai and us, that you take a break and take a moment to love and hold those who are dear to you a moment longer than you would normally".
