Another sensual day, torrid, potentially stormy

Friendly reminder: it's still summer! We have 4 days of busy weather, with this classic summer trio: heat, humidity and thunderstorms.

Like Sunday, the air will be thick On Monday with temperatures widely spread to more than 90 degrees. (The northwestern New Jersey and New Jersey coast will probably perform best in the first 80 years.) Add moisture, of course, and the heat index ("as" or "apparent") will reach 95 at 100 degrees on most states. The heat will be more stifling in the urban areas surrounding New York and Philadelphia.

In fact, the National Meteorological Service has issued a Heat notice for parts of northeastern and southwestern New Jersey until 8 pm This notice, cautioning against potential health problems associated with prolonged exposure to heat and moisture, It covers the counties of Bergen, northwest Burlington, Camden, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Mercer, Passaic, and Union.

A little fog was formed in the Garden State during the night, especially where it spilled Sunday. Plus, while I'm typing this (5:30 am), I'm watching a line of heavy thunderstorms spreading through central Pennsylvania. The patterns are consistent enough to completely eliminate the rain before it reaches the garden state. But, just in case, I'll include some clouds and a chance of rain in the AM forecast.

At noon, we will see rays of hot sun. And then, scattered thunderstorms should begin to appear after about 14 hours. Monday afternoon (more like after 16h south and the coast). Will everyone in New Jersey experience a storm on Monday? Nope! But if you do, you may find abundant rain, a lot of lightning, wind and / or hail.

The showers will decrease towards 21 hours. Monday evening. The rest of the night will be just moist. Low temperatures will only dip in the lowest 70 degrees. (Do not forget that hot nights make the heat waves even more dangerous – you simply can not escape from the humidity!)

Tuesday will actually end up slightly colder, with most of the peaks in the mid-80s. (Let's not move a few 90s into the interior of South Jersey.) The sky will be partially sunny. And the chances of rain should be limited to an isolated shower or storm.

But then we are back to the 90 degree mark on Wednesday. In general, we will see a mixture of clouds and sun during the night. A lot of showers will cut North Jersey Wednesday morning. And then another series of thunderstorms seems likely Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Another hot day in the forecast for Thursday. It will be very hot again, with high temperatures in the 80s above about 90 degrees. The day will begin with generally cloudy skies and end with a final round of thunderstorms.

Late Thursday in Friday, a new air mass will arrive in New Jersey. It will be a lot cooler and drier – what a nice breath of fresh air! In fact, the high temperatures on Friday can be limited to the 70s, despite the abundant sun!

It should be noted that the Euro model shows this cold front calming just south of NJ. This configuration would keep the rain in the forecast for the southern and coastal parts of the state until Friday as well. For the moment, this only adds some uncertainty to the forecast – no worries of dangerous time.

If all goes well, the final weekend the month of August should enjoy the good weather. But that depends heavily on how the rest of the week goes. Stay tuned!
