Another visitor died at Grand Canyon National Park after a man fell 400 feet above the south shore, authorities said Thursday.

The park rangers responded to a call shortly before Wednesday noon, according to which one had fallen over the ledge. The helicopter and the team's technical rescue team have found the body of a 67-year-old man.

The name and hometown of the man were not immediately available.

The National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating the deaths, park officials said.

A spokeswoman said it was the first death that occurred in Grand Canyon National Park this year, which killed 17 people last year.

Two people died at the Grand Canyon at the end of last month as part of separate incidents. A man stumbled on the edge of the edge while he was attempting to take pictures at Grand Canyon West, a popular tourist destination on the Hualapai Reserve outside the National Park.

Grand Canyon National Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States, attracting nearly 6.4 million visitors last year. Grand Canyon West, on the Hualapai Reserve, receives about 1 million visitors a year.
