In the run-up to the NBA's transaction deadline between 2018 and 2018, Anthony Davis requested a transaction to the New Orleans pelicans through agent Rich Paul.
The Los Angeles Lakers apparently being Davis' favorite destination, they offered him the entire core of youths, draft picks and lighter salary caps.
The former president of basketball operations, Magic Johnson, saying the Pelicans had not acted in good faith, the Lakers could not beat those rumors and missed the playoffs for the sixth season consecutive.

Three months after the rumors of Davis' trade, some of the Pelicans would have admitted that the Lakers had made a "pretty attractive" offer for him. Since they were never going to trade Davis in Los Angeles, Griffin's arrival in New Orleans could change their attitude as the 2019 NBA project approaches.
At his introductory press conference, Griffin said he would try to convince Davis to stay for the 2019-2020 NBA season. However, he also stressed the importance of the 26-year-old's full commitment to pelicans.
As there are conflicting reports about free agents, Davis could give the Lakers their best chance of getting a second All Star player. Unfortunately, there are too many questions than answers with the Lakers at the moment.
