Anthony Mackie to star in live-action video game adaptation Twisted Metal
Anthony Mackie will play John Doe in a live-action television adaptation of the video game Twisted Metal.
The 42-year-old actor will be executive producer of the Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions collaboration, which will run in half-hour episodes, Deadline reported.
“We are delighted to have Anthony Mackie on board,” PlayStation Director Asad Qizilbash said in a statement. “His ability to blend comedy, action and drama is perfect for the Twisted world we are creating.”

Sony TV director Glenn Adilman said the “phenomenal work of the New Orleans native over the years” had made him stand out “as the only actor capable of playing such a complex, funny and convincing that John Doe “.
“Lucky for us, he agreed” to play the part, Adilman said of Mackie.
Twisted Metal is a comedic action game taken from an original take by Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, with Doe’s character as the quick-talking milkman in an obstacle course of vehicular violence in the midst of a post-apocalyptic setting.
The game was originally released in 1995.
