Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Jeff Bezos after returning to Earth after briefly flying into space with Blue Origin, the spaceflight company he founded in 2000.

After Bezos’ brief orbital journey, he addressed a crowd while donning a cowboy hat, saying he wanted to “thank every Amazon employee and every Amazon customer because you paid for it. all of this”.

Ocasio-Cortez responded on Twitter, telling Bezos: “Yes, Amazon workers have paid for it – with lower wages, union layoffs, a frantic and inhumane workplace and delivery drivers without health insurance for a long time. pandemic.”

“And Amazon customers are paying for it, Amazon abusing their market power to hurt small businesses,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

An Amazon warehouse worker in Indiana, requesting anonymity for fear of reprisal, said workers seemed unaware that Bezos – who resigned as CEO of the company early of the month – took off today.

“It’s business as usual for us,” they told Insider.

They were also not particularly impressed by their former boss’s gratitude for allowing the trip.

“I guess he thanks us for putting the money in his pocket to do it through our hard work, sacrificing our bonuses and our stock options to make this possible,” they said. “We didn’t get anything out of it.”
