State Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs tore up Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday over disappointing results in major parliamentary and legislative races on the New York battlefield last week.
Jacobs, who is also the Democratic leader of Nassau County, said he had gotten it with AOC and other leftists lecturing Democrats who must fight to compete and win races in the purple districts from Long Island and upstate.
“The AOC does not have the right to organize general elections in the suburbs and in the north of the state. AOC is in a district that is 6-1 Democrat and she couldn’t find a Republican in her district with binoculars, ”Jacobs told the Post.

“I invite AOC to come to Long Island and run for office in one of our districts. You will see different results, ”Jacobs said.
Ocasio-Cortez, who represents parts of the Bronx and Queens in the 14th Congressional District, easily won re-election for a second term against Republican challenger John Cummings last week.
Jacobs said Democrats would not have gained control of the state Senate in 2018 without winning the suburban and northern districts of the state. Progressive laws like the controversial bail reform would not have happened without them, he said.
The Democratic fights come as the party surprisingly lost House seats, even as former Vice President Joe Biden defeated President Trump in the White House race to the top of the rankings.
In New York, Republicans led the incumbent Democrats and others ran for vacant seats in the machine tally for Congressional races on Long Island and Staten Island and about a half-dozen Senate races. But around 1.5 million missing ballots are still counted, which could tip the result.
‘INFIGHTING OVER’ DEFUND THE POLICE ‘DEMOCRAT MOVEMENT HOTS AS AOC,’ SQUAD ‘REFUSES TO BACK DOWN
Republicans from top to bottom have waged a law enforcement campaign in New York City that attacked Democrats for passing a law that eliminates cash bail for many felony defendants, supporting police “defunding” and the promotion of socialism. Democrats who run the purple districts oppose the defense of the police and socialism, but their left-wing counterparts, including the AOC, support the latter two positions.
Jacobs, like South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn, said the progressive “defund the police” slogan hurt Democrats in swing neighborhoods.
The state’s Democratic leader – who is close to Governor Andrew Cuomo – also said the left’s mantra for advancing socialism is “frightening” to voters in the suburbs and upstate.
A spokeswoman for Ocasio-Cortez referred The Post to the MP’s comments on moderate Democrats blaming progressives for their losses.
“I really believe we need to come together and not allow Republican narratives to tear us apart,” AOC told CNN.
“It is irresponsible to pour gasoline on these delicate tensions within the party.”
Ocasio-Cortez has also held firm on Twitter, saying that what is morally right at one point is not always popular.
“The idea that politicians can control the messages of activists does not make sense. They don’t work for us, ”she said on Twitter on Wednesday.
“Our job is to listen and develop our message, own it, win and lead. The civil rights movement did not poll well at the time either. MLK was not liked. Does that mean it wasn’t effective?

“Activists don’t do focus groups. BLM is not the DNC. It’s the job of the Pols to make their message their own.
Last week, she also criticized the loss of some Democratic incumbents for failing to put money into social media.
“There are people running on TV blaming progressivism for Dem’s underperformance. I was curious, so I decided to open the hood on struggling campaigns from candidates who blame progressives for their problems. Almost all of them had a horrible performance on digital. DURING A PANDEMIC, ”AOC tweeted.
“The overall ‘progressivism is bad’ argument simply doesn’t have any convincing evidence that I’ve seen. When it comes to “Defund” and “Socialism” attacks, people need to realize that these are attacks of racial resentment. You’re not going to make this go away. You can make it less efficient, ”she wrote.
