Apex Legends Announces Nintendo Switch Release Date

With its new season of less than a day, Apex Legends already has new news for players. The Battle Royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment is heading to Nintendo Switch on March 9. The developer announced the port’s release date with a short message on the game’s website.

The Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends will be co-developed by Respawn and Panic Button. Although it may be the smallest platform Mountain peak has never been released, that doesn’t mean this version won’t miss a thing from its larger console and PC counterparts. The Nintendo Switch version will include all the features of the full-size version of Mountain peak, including cross-platform play. To help compensate for the platform’s slightly different controls, size, and technical limitations, the Switch version of Apex Legends will offer some unique optimizations to bring it in line with other versions of the game.

Apex Legends Season 8 also kicked off on Tuesday, meaning the Switch version of the game will launch right in the middle of the season. All Season 8 content will be included in the Switch version at launch, and Switch players will receive 30 levels of current Battle Pass upgrades for free, to compensate for the late checkout. Switch players will also get double XP for the first two weeks after the game’s release.

Similar to other platforms, Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch will be free.
