A lot of information is given to you the first time you hit an opponent with a shot. You can change the display of damage information in Apex Legends to help you make those decisions. By default, the damage information is set to "Stack", which adds up all the damage. You can change it to "Floating", which tells you the amount of damage dealt individually to each shot, or "Both". Choose the one that helps you the most – stacking or both should give you enough information to allow you to assess how close the person you are fighting is to death.
