Respawn has asked Rampart for more Apex Legends buffs in a Season 8 update – starting in patch 8.0, if the devs can accept the changes – as the turret-loving defender continues to stand debate in the fast paced meta battle royale.
Rampart has struggled to find a home in Apex Legends since its Season 6 release and has slipped to the bottom of the meta as 2021 approaches.
This issue is partly related to his “locked” style of play. The defensive legend is based on deploying walls, covers, and his powerful “Sheila” mini-pistol to control areas and dominate opponents with superior firepower.
In theory, it works well. In practice, however, Apex Legends is such a fast paced game that Rampart is often left in the dust; an issue that caused Respawn to take another look at their Season 6 builder and its iconic amplified walls.
Bulwark gets more Amplified Wall Buffs
Respawn focuses primarily on the struggling defender’s ability to “react quickly” in battles and firefights. They want to give him a platform to help his team no matter how much time they have to prepare.
The buff will see 45 health added to Rampart walls during their construction.
This update to defender tactics “should be in 8.0,” Klein confirmed on Reddit, but things can still be traded while Respawn continues to test buffs.
This change, while seemingly minimal, is meant to bring her in line with other protective legends like the tanky Gibraltar, who can use his shields reactively. This means that he can have a greater influence on skirmishes and moving fights in the battle royale.
“I think there is still too much lag in its ability to use it reactively. I also think responsive vs setup isn’t a black and white issue, ”Klein admitted.
There may be another buff built into patch 8.0 as well, concedes developer Apex, although it’s a lot less set in stone: Rampart “could do with a little bit of power closer to the reactive side of this spectrum. But this change is still going on.
Respawn, worried, amplified walls will be an “asset”
The walls of the Rempart building will also receive a quality of life update in the upcoming update 8.0. This will relate to the “Allied Player Paradigm” – how its walls interact with incoming fire midway through construction.
“[Her walls] will stop bullets, except sniper bullets, which will go through, just like they do with allied players, ”he explained. Once the wall is completely built, it will then behave normally.
This is to prevent the wall from becoming an “asset” against long-range snipers, while still allowing for upside potential for opponents who have taken the time to build a solid point of view or who caught up with poorly positioned players from Rempart.
“This is so, in case I’m wrong and Bulwark players can reactively knock down a wall when someone with a Kraber is looking at them, the wall doesn’t. [cancel that out]. “
As mentioned by Klein, these Bulwark buffs are expected to ship in patch 8.0 update. Apex Legends Season 8 – and this new patch – are just around the corner; Dexerto expects the update to drop around February 4, to mark the second anniversary of the title.
These changes will accompany a possible overhaul of Wattson.
The Wraith, Horizon, and Revenant nerves were also drawn in pencil. all changes coming in the next Apex Legends update here.
