One of the more well-known third-party releases coming to Nintendo Switch this year is Respawn Entertainment’s free-to-play first-person shooter, Apex Legends (another EA title).
Last week, a Japanese trailer for the game mentioned that this version would launch on the same date as Season 8 on February 2. Now an Amazon Japan listing for the “Champion Edition” has shown the same date and pre-orders are live.
Amazon JapanApex Legends was originally slated to hit the Switch last year until Respawn delayed the game in October. Director Chad Grenier said the team wanted to do “justice” to the Nintendo version – and therefore, that would require more development time.
“For those who play on the Nintendo Switch, we are still working hard on the port, but to do the game justice and make it the great experience that Switch players deserve, our team needs more time. This year has brought some unexpected new challenges, to say the least, and we don’t want to rush anything.“
