Apex LegendsThe latest update brought hope to players with the announcement of a nerf for the new shooter’s character, Seer, but the changes don’t go far enough on the latest legend’s most disruptive ability.
The nerf removes both the damage and half-second blinding flash opponents take when hit by Seer’s “Focus of Attention” tactical ability. But he always interrupts enemies healing themselves or reviving teammates. So, Seer can continue to wreak havoc with his opponents’ final defensive moves, just like the character has done since his introduction three weeks ago.
“So he can always undo my healing, are you serious?” ” a player said on twitter, shortly after Respawn posted the changes to it.
Others thought that nerves made Seer indistinct, if not useless.
“Nerfed his tactical and ultimate liability, why even do it?” said another player. “Like you’re just going to nerf every piece of his kit… why even create the character in the first place.”
This review mirrors another from Bloodhound fans, Apex Legends’ other follow-up character. The main Bloodhounds are upset because Seer’s other abilities, in addition to his stalker talent, pretty much dampen their temper. But then, if Seer’s reduction in disruptive powers removes any distinction between the two, why have Seer in the first place?
“People complain that interruptions are always a thing, imo if Seer’s tactic was just scanning he would be an objectively worse Bloodhound,” said another player.
“Nothing you did today was necessary” said another fan, “his biggest problem is how he can undo everything from care to resolution[uscitation] to use a capacity.
Other changes coming in Monday’s patch included a 30-second increase – from 90 seconds to 2 minutes – in the cooldown for Seer’s ultimate ability. It’s “Flaunt,” which you may have seen in the teaser and promo trailers, where a large sphere of micro-drones reveals enemies crossing its area or firing their weapons inside.
The changes also decrease the outer range of Seer’s passive ability, “Heart Seeker,” which helps them track enemies. The reticle turns blue when an enemy is more than 75 yards away; the maximum distance an enemy can be detected has been shortened. Sighted players will also have to wait an extra half a second between sensor spikes for enemies with full health points.
The update is available now. Seer joined the game on August 3 with the start of Season 10, “Emergence.”
