Apple has appointed Monica Lozano, chief executive of the College Futures Foundation, to its board of directors, the company said on Tuesday.

Prior to taking on her role as CEO of the College Futures Foundation, Lozano worked as a writer and editor for the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the United States, La Opinion. She also served as the CEO of the newspaper’s parent company, ImpreMedia, and currently serves on the boards of Target and Bank of America. She is a former member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company.

This appointment brings the total number of Apple board members to eight.

“Lozano brings with her a wealth of leadership experience in the public and private sectors, as well as a long and rich history as a champion of equity, opportunity and representation,” Apple said Tuesday.
