Apple Arcade Subscription Service
During a larger event focused on Apple's new services, the company revealed Apple Arcade. This is a new subscription service that will allow users to download and play a selection of premium games for a fee. These are games that will be playable on iOS, macOS and Apple TV – they can also be played offline. Unlike Google Stadia, it's not a cloud streaming service; instead, it is Apple's version of an Xbox Game Pass style template for games on Apple platforms. The service is expected to launch this fall in 150 countries.
Some renowned developers and publishers are already in the game, including Sega, Platinum Games, Devolver Digital, Annapurna and Konami. Even the esteemed Hironobu Sakaguchi, known for his lead roles in the Final Fantasy series and other notable RPGs, has been featured with his upcoming Fantasian game. Many of these games are not exclusive to Apple platforms, but will be included in Apple Arcade alongside the 100 exclusives promised at launch.
New games will be added regularly, although the frequency with which this happens is unclear. We also do not know if each game will be a permanent addition to the catalog, but that seems possible, given that Apple said it would participate in support of game development. These will all be non-free premium games, and by subscribing to Arcade, you will get full versions, including updates or downloadable content for them.
We have compiled the games that have been confirmed for Apple Arcade with a brief description of each of them to give you an idea of what will happen. To learn more about the big Apple event, check out all the details on Apple TV + and each show that is getting ready.
