Apple Arcade: it's time to play

When Apple Arcade launches on the App Store on September 19, players around the world will begin to buy games that last for years. The developers behind them have combined art, curiosity and a lot of heart with an organized selection of diverse and new games made possible by Apple Arcade. Here are some of their stories.

"The enchanted world"

In "The Enchanted World", players play the role of a fairy who uses puzzles and challenges to replenish her collapsing world. For creators and friends Ivan Ramadan and Amar Zubcevic, both 33, the game is much more than that: it's a metaphor for a child growing up in war. Ramadan and Zubcevic both grew up in Sarajevo during the conflicts in the Balkans in the 1990s. Both had parents who used their creativity to protect them from the violence and dangers that surrounded them.

"Sarajevo has been besieged for four years," says Zubcevic. "There was no electricity … there was no running water, we had to go to a well … and we went with [our parents] and help them carry the containers – it was a game for us, help them. "

From these childhood memories, "The Enchanted World" was born. The game, published jointly with the developer Noodlecake, presents the music and folklore of the Balkans.

"Our game is for all children who, with their stamina and imagination, can create these magical worlds for themselves and their friends, even in the worst of circumstances," says Zubcevic. "That's why their world is thrilled and why I think we can always do better than what was before."

"We wanted to make this game a peaceful game and a fairy tale," says Ramadan. "We hope that children and their parents will enjoy it together."
