Apple Arcade’s next additions include ‘Tetris’ and ‘Monster Hunter’ games

Apple Arcade is expanding its game selection and again includes a mix of new (albeit familiar) originals and established classics. All-you-can-eat service will add “soon” Tetris Beat, an arcade original from N3twork that mixes Alexei Pajitnov’s line removal puzzles with rhythm game elements. The more you keep up the pace, the bigger your combos. The soundtrack includes well known names like Alison Wonderland and Hannah Diamond among others, so you can enjoy it just for the music.

The other title to come, Monster Hunter Stories (below), will be more than a little familiar – it’s a years-old adaptation of Capcom’s turn-based RPG that debuted on the 3DS. The game reverses the usual premise by making you a “rider” who bonds with certain monsters rather than stalking them.

Two more veteran games will join the mix. Half brick Jetpack Joyride makes the endless runner (flyer?) available without worrying too much about in-app purchases, while Neko Atsume offers a serene collection of cats as a foil to another, more frenetic games of the collection.

As before, Apple doesn’t rely on any games to lure you into Arcade. Like past additions, these latest entries are more geared towards further advocating for Apple’s $ 5-per-month service – you might be more likely to sign up (or get it as part of an Apple One plan) if you know titles like Tetris Beat and Monster Hunter Stories are just a quick download.
