Apple Bends Its Own Rules Using Push Notifications To Promote Apple Music


Apple sends push notifications to Apple Music subscribers, offering a month of free music streaming to their friends they refer to, reports report 9to5Mac. The previous week, the company had generated notifications from the same app, offering a free three-month trial to unused subscribers.

Technically, 9to5Mac note that this violates one of the review guidelines of the Apple App Store, which states that "push notifications … should not be used for advertising, promotional or marketing purposes direct". this piece when we hear back.

In either case, Apple does not seem to obey the letter to its own rules of the App Store. However, even though iPhone upgrade program members may be interested in the latest iPhones, an out-of-date Apple Music subscriber may not want to receive service notifications. Currently, Apple's App Store guidelines do not distinguish between these two cases, but maybe it's time.
