Earlier this year, it was reported that Apple had fired more than 200 people from its Project Titan autonomous vehicle department. At present, in a new file with the California Department of Employment Development, Apple has given more details about these layoffs.

As reported by the San Francisco ChronicleThe documents filed by Apple indicate that the majority of the positions concerned are engineering roles. The layoffs involve 38 engineering program managers, 33 hardware engineers, 31 product design engineers and 22 software engineers.
In total, Apple is laying off 190 freelance auto employees in Santa Clara and Sunnyvale California. This does not mean that there are no other layoffs related to the Titan Project elsewhere, which would increase the total number of layoffs to more than 200 as previously announced. Layoffs will officially come into effect on April 16, depending on the file.
Following CNBC's January report, Apple said it had "an incredibly talented team working on stand-alone systems and related technologies at Apple."
Earlier this month, data from the California Department of Motor Vehicles shed light on Apple's testing of self-driving cars. According to these data, Apple would have traveled 79,745 test miles in California from November 31, 2017 to December 1, 2018.
