The latest version of Apple, iOS 13.1, fixes some insidious emoji blunders introduced in previous versions of the mobile operating system, including a widely advertised squid character and an anatomically incorrect mosquito.

In total, Apple has modified 24 emoji designs with iOS version 13.1 released on Tuesday, according to a change log aggregated by the emoji-tracking website. Emojipedia.
A squid is among the most notable updates.
At the end of 2018, a tweet from the Monterey Bay Aquarium highlighted what appeared to be an obvious flaw in Apple's decision to place a siphon on the "face" of cephalopods. According to the aquarium and other people who have sided with his thorough evaluation of emoji, a squid trap should be placed behind his head. As drawn by Apple, the funnel looked like a "weird nose".
It took more than nine months, but the siphon was finally removed and is supposed to be placed in the right place in front of his face. The relief is palpable.
In iOS 13.1, two other animal-related emojis have been modified: an octopus with new suction cups attached to its two arms and the mosquito, which gains an extra pair of legs for six anatomically correct appendages.
Apple has moved the emoji chart from a horizontal orientation to a vertical orientation, reflecting a more accurate representation of how the computing tool is used.
Some smiling face emoji also use heart overlays, which now use standard red heart emoji designs instead of custom heart shapes. Apple has also made minor changes to its emoji: cow, boar, mouse, hedgehog, owl, goblet glass, puzzle piece and party. The skin tones of "woman facepalming" and the standard siren have also been adjusted.
Apple released iOS 13.1 earlier today with a host of new features, including enhanced AirDrop features for the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro handsets, automations for shortcuts, extensive audio sharing options, and more.
