Apple details the 3D maps deployment plan for iOS 15

Apple is rolling out slowly but surely in the Maps app. From today you can now pinch and zoom in a three dimensional render of London. Apple activated the experience for New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles last week.

The feature film in Washington DC, San Diego and Philadelphia by the end of the year. Apple will bring 3D maps to Canada next year, to Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

In 3D maps, you’ll see elevation details in each city, along with new road labels and landmarks such as LA’s Dodger Stadium, Statue of Liberty, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. A night mode casts a moonlit glow on maps at dusk.

Apple says the app will soon offer improved navigation via CarPlay. Transit users may also find it easier to get around. If you enter your route, the app can notify you when it’s time to get off the bus or metro. You can also see step-by-step augmented reality walking instructions after scanning nearby buildings to determine your position and orientation.
