As before, some of the groups involved in Titan have moved to other parts of society to support AI and other efforts.

This is not the first series of layoffs in the team. Apple removed many jobs in 2016 when it moved from developing a full-fledged autonomous car to the underlying platform. However, there is more pressure than before to act. Apple faced a rare slowdown in iPhone sales in the last quarter, which could entail a reassessment of the technology giant's spending on experimental projects. Whatever the motivations, they unfortunately have a human cost.
