Apple drops HomePod price to $ 299

Apple has reduced the price of its HomePod by 50 USD, which seems to be a permanent drop in the price of the smart speaker, from 349 USD to 299 USD, via 9to5Mac.

This new rebate is not the lowest price we've ever seen at HomePods – last year retailers only sold $ 249 – but unlike these sales, the new price is not temporary agreement, which could help increase sales of the expensive speaker. Still, at $ 299, it remains one of the most expensive smart speakers on the market, especially compared to products such as Google Home, Amazon's Alexa or Sonos One.

The discounted price further highlights the fact that Apple does not have any budget option for integrating Siri into a smart home as Amazon and Google do so respectively with Echo Dot and Home Mini products.

The price reduction seems to be universal in the different regions where the HomePod is sold. (The price in the UK has gone from £ 319 to £ 279, for example). The price change takes effect immediately on the Apple website.
