Apple today ended a program that offered customers with potentially faulty iPhone 8 models free motherboard repair, which in some cases caused the device to restart and shut down.
The program was officially launched in August 2018 and targeted a “very small percentage” of iPhone 8 devices that may have a faulty logic board. According to Apple, at the time, the affected models were sold between September 2017 and March 2018 in China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand and the United States. The iPhone 8 Plus was not in the program, and Apple previously invited customers to visit its support website to see if they were eligible for a free repair.
Now, the program is officially done and Apple has removed it from their list of repair programs on their website. The program has lasted for over three years, and although it has ended, customers still having issues with their iPhone 8 should still contact Apple Support as they may still be willing to help.
