The 2019 World Developer Conference, or WWDC, started enthusiastically on Monday morning, as the restless public was waiting for the opening speech with Dub Dub's vocals! DC! Dub Dub! DC! Once the lights went out, the event began with a brief video tribute to the developers.

For the most part, the event delivered exactly what the rumor Apple had expected, but there were a few small surprises. Here is a quick overview of some of the main recipes of the day for investors and fans.

• Developers, developers, developers, developers: This is the Worldwide Developers Conference. And this year, the focus was not only on new features for end users, but also on a multitude of new tools and features that should make life easier for coders. This includes Project Catalyst, which will facilitate the creation of Mac versions of software originally written for the iPad, as well as a new version of VRKit and other new tools. There is also a new $ 5,999 Mac Pro and a $ 4,999 Pro display that are obviously not intended for consumers. They are intended, among others, developers.
• Focus on privacy: The new "Connect with Apple" service directly targets the widespread use of Facebook and Google credentials for connecting to third-party applications and websites. Tim Bajarin, an analyst at Creative Strategies, thinks it could be a blow for

  -unit (GOOGL) Google because it potentially excludes them from the login process for many services. And this should result in less leakage of consumer information to third parties. Bajarin also appreciates Apple's plan to route unknown callers directly to voicemail.

• Split iOS: Apple has unveiled another operating system, separating iPadOS from iOS. This makes sense – as Bajarin notes, developers sometimes have trouble creating applications that work well on both screen sizes. The split should make life easier for developers.
• So long iTunes: The long-running multimedia application has been divided into three parts on the Mac: music, television and podcasts now have their own applications. In addition, the automatic launch of iTunes is no longer annoying each time you connect your phone to your computer. Amen to that.
• Watch this place: WatchOS has its own app store and the ability to stream live content, including sports, news and podcasts, without going through an iPhone. And new faces! Nobody can get tired of new dials.
• Incomplete: It was strictly on the software. So, not a word about iPhones, iPads, consumer Macs or New Generation Watches. No discussion on iPhone 5G support. No real updates on Apple TV +, except for a clever clip of For All Mankind, a sci-fi series with alternative story that seems fun. (Still not clear on what Apple TV + costs, for example.) Not much new on Apple Arcade. And, by that, there was no particular interest for Huawei, tariffs, China or the big story of the day: the regulation of technology. Because, you know, developers, developers, developers, developers.

Apple shares slid 1% today to $ 173.30.
