Apple Introduces HomePod in Annual Holiday Ad: ‘The Magic of the Mini’

Apple today shared its annual ad for the holiday season, praising this year “the magic of the mini”. The ad features rapper Tierra Whack and focuses primarily on Apple’s new $ 99 HomePod mini and the $ 299 full-size HomePod.

The ad highlights the new HomePod mini and adheres to one of Apple’s long-standing trends: how music can help improve your mood. The two songs featured in the video are:

Now, with the launch of the more compact HomePod Mini, Apple and the agency TBWA Media Arts Lab are back with an ad that continues the theme of the previous spot on how music can boost your mood. This time around, we don’t get the level of stunning visual effects of “Welcome Home,” but we have an uplifting platform for another rising star: American rapper and songwriter Tierra Whack.

Just over 2 minutes, “The Magic of Mini” shows Whack returning to his apartment in a dreary state, his scarf dragging along the cold gray sidewalk (a painful visual for any city dweller). But soon, her HomePod Mini adds a miniature, colorful version of herself to the equation, and her mood improves quickly.
