Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) hired Ian Goodfellow, a veterinarian at Google (GOOG, GOOGL), last month as director of machine learning within the Special Projects Group.
Goodfellow recently served as a senior Google researcher and previously worked for the OpenAI IA research consortium.
Goodfellow invented a form of artificial intelligence called oppositional networks (GAN), which oppose two networks of neurons (generative and discriminative) to create realistic images and videos.
Last year, Apple criticized Google's director of AI and interviewed John Giannandrea to oversee his AI strategy, which implied up to now FaceID, Siri and a stand-alone technology .
