Apple is testing some foldable iPhone models

Foldable smartphones have been around for a while now. However, just like with 5G, Apple doesn’t have a foldable phone several months after the first foldable phone was released. We have a few foldable phones like Huawei and Samsung and it is getting more and more popular. Rumors about the foldable iPhone have been around for a long time. The arrival date for this phone is approaching but it won’t be launching anytime soon.

The latest rumors indicate that Apple is already testing some foldable iPhone models. The company will eventually choose a design that it can bring to the market. According to Jon Prosser, several of his sources claim that Apple is currently developing two foldable devices.

The first device is the same as the previous ones, with two screens and a hinge between the screens. The design is similar to Microsoft’s Surface Duo. The second device uses a clamshell design, the design should look like the Galaxy Z Flip as well as the latest Moto RAZR.

The report also claims that the case of this device is being tested at the Shenzhen Foxconn factory. These cases are not the entire device as Apple may want to see how durable the hinge mechanism is. This device will indeed be equipped with a foldable OLED screen, which will be provided by Samsung. They also said that Apple is still trying to decide which of these two models to use, as only one will be available.

We don’t expect this foldable iPhone anytime soon, however, as the report claims we We may have to wait until September 2022 to see a foldable iPhone. In other words, Apple fans will have to wait a while before they see these new foldable iPhones.

Apple is receiving samples of foldable phones from its Chinese suppliers, including Foxconn and New Nikko, according to a new report from Economic Daily. For now, the giant seems to be evaluating whether to use OLED or microLED displays for a foldable device. The decision may affect the manufacturing processes of the folding device as microLED is an emerging new display technology. It is not yet established but will offer advancements like extra brightness, saturation at low power cost.

Additionally, the report says Apple is entering the testing phase of devices with folding screens. Samsung would be the supplier of the display technology. The supply chain says the hinges used on Apple’s foldable iPhone or iPad will be sourced primarily from New Nikko. Foxconn will be responsible for assembling this complex device. For Nikko, developing hinges is a familiar thing. After all, he worked with Apple to produce hinges for MacBook.
