Apple has quietly launched a new option to protect the AirPods and some of its Beats headphones and headphones with AppleCare +. An accidental two-year coverage comes with the super affordable price of $ 29. And it is possible to add coverage to AirPods and other eligible helmets if you have purchased them in the last 60 days.
Apple has detailed the new AppleCare + for Headphones plan on its website today.
Each set of AirPod, Beats or Beats earphones is covered by a one-year hardware warranty warranty, covered by the limited warranty, as well as free support for up to 90 days. AppleCare + extends your coverage to two years from the date of purchase of your AppleCare + and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a $ 29 service fee, plus applicable taxes. In addition, you will have priority access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to Apple experts by chat or phone.
Apple notes that AppleCare + for Headphones includes the repair or replacement of the earphones / headphones, the battery and the charging cable provided. In particular, it does not mention the case load for AirPods or Powerbeats Pro, but we would expect that this is also covered.
AppleCare + provides repair or replacement coverage, parts and labor, by Apple Authorized Technicians. The service coverage includes the following:
- Your AirPods, Beats Headphones or Beats Headphones
- Battery (1)
- USB charging cable included
- Up to two incidents of accidental damage due to handling, each subject to a $ 29 service charge, plus applicable taxes
AppleCare + for headphones can be added to eligible AirPods and Beats earphones / headphones within 60 days of purchase, as well as for new purchases. With AirPod repair and replacement costs of up to $ 69 for a single AirPod, this $ 29 protection seems a no-brainer. Be aware, however, that this AppleCare + for Headphones plan does not include protection against theft or loss.
