Apple today introduced Core ML 3, the latest version of its Auto Learning model framework aimed at iOS developers, putting the smart machine to the service of smart phone apps. The Core ML 3 will for the first time be able to provide machine-based machine learning training to deliver personalized experiences with iOS applications. The ability to form multiple models with different data sets will also be part of a new Create ML application on macOS for applications such as object detection and sound identification.
Apple's machine learning framework will support more than 100 types of model layers.
Machine Learning is gaining popularity as a means of deploying quickly and respecting confidentiality. Solutions for popular environments such as Google's TensorFlow and Facebook's PyTorch to provide machine-based learning via approaches such as federated learning have arrived in recent months.
Today's news was announced at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this week in San Jose, California.
VentureBeat has contacted an Apple spokesperson for more details on the Core ML 3, and we will update this story as soon as it becomes available.
Also announced today: watchOS 6 with voice memos and menstrual cycle tracking, iOS 13 with Siri's more expressive and personalized results with the Apple Home Pod, a modular Mac on wheels and the ability to control tvOS d & rsquo; Apple with the PlayStation and Xbox controllers.
The Core ML framework is used internally at Apple for Siri training, the QuickType keyboard, language learning for the Memrise application, and predictions for the Polarr photo editing application.
In the last edition of WWDC, Apple introduced Core ML 2, a framework that the company called 30% faster than its predecessor, and Create ML, a GPU-accelerated framework for training custom AI models with Xcode and the Swift programming language. The initial Core ML framework for iOS was introduced at WWDC in 2017 and integrated with iOS 11. Premade models that work immediately include Apple's Vision API and Natural Language Framework.
Unlike the Google ML kit that works for Android and iOS developers, Core ML is exclusively for developers creating applications for Apple's iOS operating system. Google has integrated Core ML with its TensorFlow Lite by the end of 2017.
More soon.
