Apple today released the MagSafe Battery Pack accessory for iPhone 12 models. Several months after the unveiling of the iPhone 12 series, Apple quietly released a new first-party MagSafe accessory in the form of a battery-free battery. wire. The MagSafe battery magnetically attaches to the back of iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max, providing hours of extra battery life. The pack itself charges with a Lightning cable and can transmit the charge to the connected iPhone at the same time. Apple recommends using a 20-watt USB-C charger for the fastest charge times.
The MagSafe Battery Pack is available to order today with the first shipments starting July 19. Apple says the MagSafe battery pack requires the iPhone to be running iOS 14.7 or later.
The MagSafe Battery Pack joins an existing accessory ecosystem of wireless battery packs that have surfaced since the release of the iPhone 12. However, all of these third-party options are reportedly “MagSafe Compatible” rather than endorsed by MagSafe. For now, Apple’s proprietary accessory is the only official MagSafe battery accessory.
As you might expect, the battery percentage for Apple’s battery box will appear in the Battery widget and on the lock screen.
Apple has yet to release official statistics on the extra MagSafe battery life. The total battery capacity is 1460mAH, as seen on the back of the device in one of the product photos. Apple says the MagSafe battery will charge the connected iPhone at around 5W.
