Apple Maps is getting a new look.
Apple Monday unveiled a more detailed mapping application that, according to the company, will be offered to US users by the end of 2019 and to more countries by 2020. The company has also added new features to facilitate user browsing. to places that they frequently visit, such as their home or work addresses.
The announcement made by Apple at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, shows just how much the tech giant is trying to compete with the Google Maps and Waze apps. Apple said it has traveled 4 million kilometers to rebuild the application maps from the ground up.

Apple Maps allows you to save addresses in a list of favorites that will be displayed on the screen launching the application. Users will also be able to create a collection of frequent locations and add a photo to the list.
There is also a new "Look Around" feature displayed by the binoculars that allows you to see a 3D view of a place on a map.
In September 2012, Apple released its own home mapping program with its iOS 6 operating system. Previously, Google Maps was preloaded on its devices, but the tension between the two companies led Apple to create its own software. The problem was it did not really work. IOS users immediately noticed problems, ranging from browsing to just looking for an address.
The fiasco prompted Cook to make a public apology and dismiss iOS chief Scott Forstall, one of the most senior lieutenants of former CEO Steve Jobs. Cook, at the time, said that Apple had "failed in its commitment," and he recommended alternative mapping programs until the company could solve the problems related to Apple Maps.

Apple has walk a long way with Maps, but some commentators continue to say that Google Maps is better.
Apple has also announced updates to other applications, including reminders. When you type a reminder in the app, it will know when and where to tell you. It will also be easier to score someone in a reminder.
