Apple Maps will now allow you to report accidents and speed cameras

Features familiar to the Waze crowd coming soon Apple Cards.

Available now for developers and users of the public beta running iOS 14.5, and later deploy to all users thispring, the new features will allow passengers and drivers to easily report a speed control, accident or any type of danger they encounter while driving. As the feature is intended to be hands-free for those behind the wheel, users can alert Siri of the incident either with a voice command on their iPhone or, if supported, using CarPlay.

To prompt the assistant, simply say “Hey Siri, report …” followed by the event, whether it is an accident, danger, speech check, speed camera or simply an “incident”. Beta users who have this feature will also be able to say things like “There is a crash coming “or, “There is a speed trap here. Siri will also be able to understand commands like “the danger is gone” or “clear the accident”, and users can also tell Siri things like “the accident is still here”.

Beyond the reporting features, Apple Maps is also subject to a few other changes. Apple has added bike routes for Portland and San Diego, which will show users routes with designated bike streets, bike lanes, and bike lanes. (These features are currently available for Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York.) The tool allows riders to check things like elevation and areas of traffic, and Siri can navigate your bike route on an iPhone, Apple Watch, or AirPods.

Finally, the company continues to develop its Guides in Maps, which offers tips on where to hike, eat, shop, and go on adventures. Apple says Maps now offers more than 500 of these selected guides, but that they are automatically updated with new ones added every week.
