Apple Music now has more paid subscribers in the United States than Spotify, according to a new Reuters report. A "person familiar with the subject" told Reuters that Apple now has 28 million paid subscribers, compared with 26 million for Spotify. However, thanks to the free Spotify level, the Swedish streaming company would still have more users than Apple Music in the United States.
In November, Spotify's quarterly results report revealed that the platform had 87 million paid subscribers and 191 million total users worldwide. According to a December 2018 Financial Times report (via Billboard), Apple Music has more than 56 million users (between trial subscribers and paying subscribers).
