Apple’s long wait to announce WWDC 2021 is over. Apple’s Global Developer Conference will take place on June 7 as a fully online event. As well as being the first keynote the company has confirmed for 2021 so far, it uses the Craig Federighi meme that went viral during the M1 Mac event last fall.
As we can see in the image shown, a Memoji with glasses is looking at his MacBook and the brightness of the Mac screen shines on his face.
On Memojis glasses, it is possible to see the calendar with the date of June 7 and 21 notifications. As you’ve probably figured out for yourself, that means WWDC 2021 takes place on June 7, 2021.
It is also possible to see the Xcode app on the glasses, which makes sense given the attention of WWDC developers every year. It is also possible to see the SF Symbols application icon. The leftmost icon appears to be the SpriteKit icon, although it could also be the Transporter app, which developers can use to download apps from App Store Connect.
What we do know for sure is that Apple is going to introduce updates for its software, which means iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and macOS will receive a proper upgrade. As 9to5Mac Recently discovered, iPhone and Mac software this year will likely be called iOS 15 and macOS 12.
Looking at the Memoji with glasses again, it’s at least intriguing to think that Apple might be hinting at its Apple glasses since we’ve been hearing rumors about it for so long. While it seems unlikely the company will launch the product in 2021, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, we might see a preview of Apple glasses at WWDC 2021.
Other than that, it’s nice to see Apple announce their first event of the year and play the Craig Federighi meme.
