Nearly 300 GlobeTech employees in Cork lost their jobs when Apple put an end to the controversial Siri listening operation.
Globetech has hired staff to listen to and record the recordings of Apple's voice assistant, Siri. The workers were fired earlier this month when Apple ended the eavesdropping project while his privacy was violated.
Concerns remained about the future of the workers.
In a statement to The Echo, Apple announced that they would restart the Siri ranking program again on an optional basis.
"Apple has been present in Ireland for 40 years and we are deeply committed to the development of the economy and the creation of jobs."
"Our headquarters in Cork will be the main site of our opt in program Siri, which will restart this fall."
"As we build our team, our priority is to consider hiring contractors who do this work before we suspend the program. We take this process very seriously to ensure we serve the best interests of our partners, employees and customers. "
