Shortly after Apple developers launched with the third beta of macOS Monterey, the latest version is now available for public testers. The new beta of macOS Monterey includes a noticeable change to the default Safari tab design – rolling back from the new unified search and tab bar in previous beta releases, and more.
macOS Monterey beta 3 (technically the second public release) is now appearing via OTA for public testers already registered. You can also download it from Apple’s beta website if you aren’t running the beta yet (full guide here).
New features and changes in macOS 12 Monterey include a totally redesigned Safari, a shortcuts app coming to Mac, the new SharePlay feature of FaceTime, Universal Control to work seamlessly across multiple Apple devices, a new Focus mode, Quick Notes , AirPlay to Mac, and more.

The biggest change for the user in the third beta is a redesign of the Safari tab. The unified search tab / bar is no longer the default (although it can be reverted to).
With the early beta versions of Monterey, Universal Control was not available and still has not been activated in the third beta.
But we noticed a placeholder warning in Settings> General> Transfer about leaving it on to use the feature. And we also discovered an icon for universal control:
As always, it’s a bad idea to install early beta versions like this on your primary machine as bugs and performance issues are common, so use a secondary Mac if possible.
