The Apple TV app is now available for Google’s Chromecast 2020. It was announced in December that Apple’s streaming app, which offers access to its original Apple TV Plus, would arrive on the goofy-named Chromecast with Google TV. Starting today, owners of this great $ 50 device can download Apple TV and start using it.

Apple TV originals like Ted lasso, The morning show, and For all mankind will appear in Google TV recommendations and search results. It should be noted that you will also be able to add original Apple shows and movies to the Google TV universal watch list. Some larger streaming services like Netflix decided not to participate in Watchlist in the months following the Chromecast’s release, as they apparently prefer to keep this kind of functionality within the app itself. As 9to5Google reported in November, the Google TV mobile app no longer even includes Netflix recommendations.

Apple TV also benefits from the integration of Google Assistant on Chromecast; you can start watching any of the Apple originals with a voice command.

In addition to containing Apple’s original programming, the Apple TV app offers easy streaming of your movie / TV rentals and purchases from Apple. And just like on other platforms, any Apple TV Channel add-on subscriptions you might have – CBS All Access, Showtime, etc. – will be available in the app on Chromecast with Google TV.

Jonathan Zepp, director of media and entertainment at Google, says that “in addition to Chromecast with Google TV, the Apple TV app will also be available on Google TVs from Sony and TCL.”
