In the wake of the release of iOS 12.2 yesterday, Apple has updated the Apple TV Remote app for iOS. The update redefines the app's icon, making it similar to Control Center's for access to the Apple TV remote.

The new icon shows the Siri remote on a gray background. Previously, the icon was simply an Apple TV itself. Today's update makes it easy to recognize what the application really does.

The Apple TV Remote app is less useful nowadays because the Remote feature is integrated directly into Control Center with the latest iOS versions. Nevertheless, for those who prefer a dedicated application, the Remote app is a good choice.

The Apple TV remote control built into Control Center has received a handful of improvements with the release of iOS 12.2 this week. It now has a completely black interface with a larger control surface. The control center icon is also a representation of the Siri remote itself.

Besides the change of icon, the updated Apple TV Remote app simply includes "general performance improvements and stability. The application is available as a free download on the App Store.
