It's Real: Apple Unveils the All-New Mac Pro

Apple

SAN JOSE, California. – Apple today announced the launch of a new Mac Pro desktop computer, the first new product in this range since 2013.

The new Mac Pro offers a very different design from the cylindrical "trash" design of the latest Mac Pro, released nearly 2,000 days ago. This new model has more of a tower design that is a closer analog to the Mac Pro Pro cheese grater models that existed before the last machine. It has stainless steel handles to move the unit as needed, and a set of "feet" steel on the bottom. Apple says that both sides of the device can be open to users.

As can be expected from a desktop computer designed primarily for business needs, Apple introduces the new Mac Pro as "the most powerful Mac [it] The company announced that it was using a "brand new" Intel Xeon processor with 28 cores and up to 1.5 TB of system memory. It can use over 300 watts of power and comes with a large heat sink cooling which, according to Apple, will allow the device to "run continuously without strain." It has eight internal PCI slots, including four double-wide slots, three wide single slots, and one end slot with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, two 10-GB Ethernet ports, two USB-A ports, and a 3.5-mm audio jack.
