This is a much more expensive and more common problem. It's hard to live like a human being and not lose your phone, at least once or twice. And if the glass falls head first on concrete, there are no two ways to do it: the screen will crack. Sometimes it is habitable, other times, unbearable. But there is a solution.
Apple charges $ 149 (for older models of iPhone 7 and 8) at $ 169 for Plus models and $ 199 to $ 329 for installing new displays on X phones.
Small-scale retailers repairing cracked phones have emerged in recent years. Companies such as iCracked, UBreakIFix and Wireless Planet offer walk-in service, often at lower prices than Apple. Our local store uBreakIFix, for example, has indicated $ 120 for an 8 Plus screen, which is $ 50 less than Apple.
I have run out of space
This has to be the biggest problem for iPhone owners, many of whom have bought their phones while a storage of 16 gigabytes or 32 GB was the norm. Currently, the standard, at least for Apple's 2018 models, is 64 GB.
Even then, 16GB and 32GB were way too low, and it's still inconceivable nowadays, in a world of high-resolution photos, 4K videos, data-hungry apps and the trend of many between us to never delete anything from our phones.
But if you want to save money, be busy.
–Check your storage. Go to Settings / General / iPhone Storage and see how many gigabytes you have used. Then scroll down to see which apps have the most used. For me, this is photo / video, with Apple Photos at 24GB, Adobe Lightroom at 10GB, DJI Go (which I use to run my drone) 4GB and Google Play Music at 1GB. These are all videos and photos that I have created or stored. It is obvious that you must start to delete them.
–What about backup? Google Photos offers free and unlimited downloads of photos / videos (at a slightly lower resolution) and if you are a member of Amazon's premium broadcast / entertainment service, Prime Photos offers free unlimited photo storage (and not videos). You can pay for additional storage with Apple's iCloud service (the first 5 GB are free, then $ 2.99 a month for a storage capacity of 200 GB). The purchase of a more economical flash drive is to buy a USB drive that fits into the lightning port of the iPhone. The SanDisk iXpand drive costs $ 32 for a 64GB model and Eastball's 128GB drive for $ 39.99.
You can copy all your photos and videos to one of these drives, then move them to your computer or the online service of your choice.
Apart from photos and videos, check your texts. Do you really need 400 megabytes, forever? (That's what I have.) Check the Podcast, Netflix and Amazon Prime app, which stores downloads and does not get rid of them. (I'm at a 1GB handset right there.)
So, if you count, imagine that you have an iPhone 6S. Spend $ 50 for a new battery, $ 150 for a new screen and $ 40 for a flash drive, and you are at $ 240. The lowest price of the contemporary iPhone is $ 749 for the XR (of course, it has a larger screen) or you can buy the old iPhone 7 with only 32 GB of storage. Apple for $ 449.
