We’re probably only a month away from the introduction of the Apple Watch Series 7, and rumors continue to suggest that Apple is considering a design overhaul this year. New CAD renderings released by 91Mobiles today offer a closer look at the more squarer redesign of the Apple Watch Series 7.
CAD renderings show a flat-edged design inspired by the latest iPad Pro, iMac, and iPhone 12. The location of the buttons for the side button and digital crown has not changed, but the speakers on the left side are become considerably larger. .
The report explains:
The location of the buttons doesn’t seem to have changed as we have the digital crown for navigation, a microphone, and a flat select button on the right side of the frame. The left side sees two slots large enough for the speakers.
Additionally, the source tells us that the Apple Watch Series 7 will be available in a 44mm model and would measure 44 x 38 x 9mm and sport a 1.8-inch screen. In comparison, the 44mm 6 Series measured 44 x 38 x 10.7mm and weighed 36 grams.
Bloomberg reported that the Apple Watch Series 7 will feature thinner bezels, a faster processor, and include “updated ultra-wideband functionality.” This would represent the first significant design of the Apple Watch since Series 4, released in 2018. Jon Prosser also reported that the Apple Watch Series 7 will feature a flat-rimmed design.
Apple has also reportedly aimed to include a body temperature sensor, but this feature could be delayed until Watch 2022.
Earlier this month, the Apple Watch Series 7 appeared in regulatory documents ahead of its scheduled September release with model numbers: A2473, A2474, A2475, A2476, A2477, and A2478.
