It’s the most on / off Apple product of 2021, with countless rumors insisting that the long-awaited iPad mini redesign is definitely coming, or certainly never, ever. Well, if any new leaking molds are anything to do with it, it looks like the iPad mini 6 is on again.
We’ve heard before that the new mini will adopt an iPad Pro-inspired all-screen design, removing the current home button and large bezels. And the mold leak suggests that’s exactly what we’re getting. Could this be the first iPad mini to hit our best selection of graphics tablets?
Courtesy of Techordo, the aluminum mold – something often used by case makers – reveals what is essentially a tiny iPad Pro. That means an all-screen design with tiny bezels, square edges, and hopefully support for Apple Pencil 2.
Front Page Tech has previously claimed that the iPad mini is “prepared to receive the flat treatment, getting the very familiar flat sides and backs, as we’ve seen recently with almost all new Apple products,” including the iPhone 12.
Indeed, it looks like the new iPad mini could look exactly like one of our favorite concepts from last year. Parker Ortolani’s iPad mini render is essentially an iPad Pro mini – and it looks like that just might be what we’re getting. And for creatives on the go, a truly portable tablet with an all-screen display and (hopefully) Apple Pencil 2 support could be a no-brainer.
It certainly makes sense that Apple’s smaller iPad is inspired by the design of its larger siblings – with the advent of the iPad Air 4 as well as the iPhone 12, the company clearly wants to move everything. its product line in a world of flat edges and small bezels.
