Apple's Tim Cook Well argued that the trade war would help Samsung – Axios

The big picture: Trump announced last week that it would delay China's tariffs on certain items by 3 months, including some high-tech items, as well as footwear and clothing. The 10% tariffs that were supposed to come into effect on September 1st would have affected Apple products such as iPhones and iPads.

Between the lines: According to Zachary Basu of Axios, the threat of a collapse of the stock markets and rising Christmas shopping prices seemed to scare the Trump administration, despite the president's false insistence that China would pay the cost of customs duties directly to the US Treasury.
